“Thanks to art, instead of seeing a single world, our own, we see it multiply until we have before us as many worlds as there are original artists.”
Barbara Tallberg is an award-winning Northern California artist, published photographer, National Geographic Expeditions web and Chinese Yee travel magazine. She is also a member of the Filoli Artist Registry.
She enjoys photography and working with brush and ink painting on rice paper in the Japanese Sumi-e style. Sumi-e requires artists to distill the essence of an object or scene in the fewest possible strokes. This stylistic constraint challenges her expressive personality.
To feed her inquisitive curiosity, she maintains the importance of travel for broadening her mind and perspective. Architecture, history, colors, clothing, culture and music drive her art. She is profoundly grateful for the invention of the digital camera. It has made the collection and storing, of thousands of pictures, a sideline to the world of creation.
